The Commish: Almighty God-Like Figure...Or Just Some Dude?
Throughout the past half decade, we have seen change and evolution in the game of Booper Football. We have also seen change and evolution in the role of the "commish."
To some, the commish is likened to that of Zeus. A crazed, bearded figure who lives in the sky and can reign down lightning in an instant. Our commish is a crazed, bearded figure who can reign down his authority at any time.
Others see the commish as the biggest piece of F the world has ever seen. He is likened to that of Ryan Leaf or Matt Ryan. He reigns down the most incredible gibberish the world has ever known.
The question is, what is the role of the commish?
I like to combine the two theories. The commish, to this writer, is an "almighty dude." He is an authority figure. He makes the rules, but he is not always necessarily right...at all. He is also a dude, a pitiful slob who eats cake for breakfast and drinks at two in the afternoon just like the rest of us.
Recently, the commish did his job; he moved the league in a progressive fashion to a brand new league site at myfantasyleague.com.
What this writer asks is...what has he done with the site? To the naked eye, he has done a lot. The league page looks great and is incredibly organized. He has made multiple league posts. Our commish has created new tabs such as the "Talk Trash" tab.
Sadly, he did none of this. This was all done by other owners.
Our commish used his powers to contact the league and make us show up to the baseball draft. All seemed fair; that is until the commish did not find his fellow boopers relevant enough to show up. Rumor has it, the commish was making it rain at some strip club in DC.
At times, I see the commish as just some dude. By luck of the draw, he ended up getting the task. Overall, the commish has done a decent job. He operates on a strange basis though. He believes the ends justify the means. There have been so many questionable calls and unnecessary moves that it is truly hard to see him as someone other than just some bearded drunk...ie the coin flip fiasco...the bounty system...the year defensive players were allowed...and the many calls to end his reign as commish
Perhaps Booper created the commish in his image...perhaps the commish does the things he does simply to test us; to see how much we respect he who is aptly named...Booper.
If you ask this writer, it is hard to see just where this man is taking us. He seems disorganized and kind of like a huge jerk, but is there a method to his madness?
It is this which makes even a skeptic such as myself have that little booper kid in me want to believe...just a little...that this man...or dude....or god like booper creature... can lead us to glory.

The owners sure have done a good job on the new league. The "default" look of the new league was ok, but now, it looks like some shit skid augusta county legal correspondence. To quote the designer of the new league page "Its really cool, it has d-bag colors".
ReplyDeleteI say, give the commish the benefit of the doubt. He has commish-ioned (trademark) the restoration of the 5 year league history so old records and rosters will remain intact. He paid the hefty entrance fee to the new site out of his own pocket. Lets not forget the most important part of all, the commish took the GO Skins League and turned it into The Booper Bare League.
So to all the haters and those who cant even update their own football blog during the regular season. Lets wait until the league has 16 registered owners so we can get down to Booper bussiness.
Lastly, in the words of Al Davis "it's April 6, get over it!"
